Scisoft 7.2 - An Astronomical Software Collection

Scisoft is a project within ESO to provide a collection of astronomical software utilities in a uniform way at all four ESO sites and to make them available to the outside world. The current version, Scisoft 7.2, October 2008, is only available for Fedora Core 6 Linux. The previous major release, Scisoft v6.1 September 2006, was for Fedora Core 3, Scisoft v5 was available for RedHat9 and earlier versions are also available for Solaris 8, Linux Redhat 6.2 and HP-UX 11. In addition a version of Scisoft for Mac OSX has been prepared by Nor Pirzkal and Francesco Pierfederici but it is not an ESO product.

Scisoft 7.2

Scisoft 7.2 for Linux is now available for download locally, and FREE DVDs for Scisoft 6 and Scisoft 7 are available for request.

Scisoft 7.2 was built on Fedora Core 6 and depends on Fedora specific packages. It is possible to install Scisoft 7.2 on Scientific Linux 5.0, see this page for more details. If you managed to install an run Scisoft on an other Linux distribution please contact us at scihelp@eso.org and we will update this page.

Availability

• Outside China:
  • Download from the ESO Scisoft FTP site (recommended)
  • Download from the US mirror at MAST/STScI
  • Browse the RPM database
  • Request a DVD from the Web Shop (small processing fee)
• In China:
  • Both Scisoft 7.x and 6.x are available to be downloaded from the Scisoft FTP site (LAMOST Mirror Site in China).
  • Free DVD of Scisoft VII and VI is available for request. Please send an email to "scisoft at lamost.org" with the following contents:
    • A description of yourself
    • Planned usage of the DVD
    • Post address
